that is so inspiring! thanks Matt :)
Wow! Very inspirational
I'm a little confused - if you weight 130lbs and are eating 1950 calories, why is it called calorie restriction?? Basically you are eating enough, even with some moderate exercise. I would think CR would be alot less.

I rick thanks for the comment.
Calorie restriction is not all or nothing, the percentage that you reduce your calories at can vary and you will get life extension in proportion to the degree of restriction. So if joe was eating 2500 calories while at a normal weight, and he reduced his calories to 1900, this is calorie restriction. Yes he could probably go a bit lower but that's his own choice.
1950 k/cal might seem quite high when you first look at it, but there have been multiple studies now that show people underestimate their true calorie intake by around 20-30% after actually properly counting the calories. Joes original weight before starting CR was 175-180 lbs, now hes 130 lbs... he also shows the same changes that typically show when CR'd. Very low blood pressure, low insulin, low blood sugar, very low cholesterol, low inflammation etc etc...
I recommend you check out this video on joe, its about 9 minutes long

I like this plan and believe in it but Joe has taken this too far. He's become so focused on food that in the videos of him with his family, he doesn't even look up from his plate! He consumed with the idea that he can escape death or at least put it off. Sad, that this has become his main focus. True freedom doesn't look this. He may have lower blood sugar and no chance at Cancer but why live longer if you can't enjoy the real things right in front of you? I will try this but I won't let it take me somewhere else. No diet plan in the world is worth that. Beware, we ALL die. Its not that bad, have some faith : )
I too do not look up from my plate when I am loading it, otherwise I might load my lap too.
